Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Pigment red 269 (CAS 67990-05-0) is expected not to be readily biodegradable based on its chemical structure. Furthermore, considering results of (Q)SAR predictions and its chemical structure hydrolysis does not pose a relevant degradation pathway.

The high dispersion stability in environmental simulated media and the low log Kow values for all but one pigment of the Naphtol-AS analogue substances, indicates that the aqueous phase may be the main environmental compartment for the substance if released into the environment. Nevertheless, due to its low log Kow (1.76 at 21°C), its low water solubility (3.8 µg/L) and its very low vapour pressure (1.0E-6Pa at 25 °C), interaction with the aquatic, soil or sediment phase is unlikely to occur. A slow sedimentation in the aquatic environment onto the sediment without interaction is excepted.

Based on the molecular size, critical body burden, log Pow and the result of several QSAR model calculations, bioaccumulation of the substance is not expected.
