Acute toxicity
The chemical 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one is not expected to exhibit acute toxicity by the oral, inhaltion and dermal route of exposure based on the available data.
Irritation / corrosion
Using the weight of evidence approach the substance is expected to be irritating to skin, and so 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one is classified in category 2 for skinirritation according to current criteria where as no property of eye irritation has been observed for1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one.
Sensitisation
Using the weight of evidence appraoch, 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one was expected to be not sensitizing to human skin.

DNEL derivation
1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl) ethan-1-one is non acute toxic to oral, dermal and inhalation route, shows slight irritation effect to skin but no irritation to eyes, is not genotoxic and is not a developmental or reproductive toxin.
In the absence of local effects following short-term or long-term exposure, no dose-response data are available and a quantitative dose descriptor is not derived. DNEL values for local exposure are therefore not calculated.
In the absence of acute systemic toxicity, no dose-response data are available and a quantitative dose descriptor is not derived. DNEL values for acute systemic effects are therefore not calculated.
A standard approach to deriving DNEL values in this case has been to use reproductive toxicity data set and apply assessment factors as described in ECHA guidance documents. The critical endpoint is considered to be the NOAEL of 238.33 mg/kg bw/d in dermal category.
