Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove the person to fresh air, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for 15 minutes, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water, if irritation occurs seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Give the person one or two glasses of water to drink, seek

medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain hydrogen chloride, hydrogen

bromide and phosphorus oxides. The vapour can be ignited

under some circumstances at 220 deg C. Suitable

extinguishing agents are Halon, carbon dioxide and dry

chemical. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Protective equipment should be worn and the area diked with

absorbent to contain the spill. Spilt material may be

pumped into containers or collected with absorbent. Waste

should be disposed of in an approved incinerator with waste

gas treatment or sent to the manufacturer for recovery.

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear nitrile gloves, chemical safety goggles and protective

clothing for exposed areas of the arms, legs and torso.

Storage: Store containers under ambient conditions.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Avoid contact with strong oxidisers.  No reaction with

water.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of material by distillation for reuse is possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no hazardous effects are known. However,

the substance may be hydrolysed by base.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance should not be disposed of at a landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance should be destroyed by incineration at an

approved facility. Waste gas treatment (alkali scrubber)

should be used to remove hydrogen halides and phosphorus

oxides.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance does not readily biodegrade but is of

relatively low water solubility.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance itself will not enter the public domain.

Articles containing the substance may be disposed of as

domestic refuse.
