Principles of method if other than guideline:
The capillary method is used to determine the melting temperature. The substance is heated up to 405°C in a glass capillary tube within an aluminium block until melting can be observed. In additon, a second test system is established to achieve melting of substances with higher melting temperature. The substance is heated in a porcelain crucible in a muffle oven up to 1095°C according to an internal operation protocol of the testing laboratory (SOP 114 003 70, edition 1 dated 03. September 2009).
