First-aid measures

General advice       :       Remove affected person from danger area. Do not leave affected persons unsupervised. Seek medical treatment.                                                                    First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety.

Eye contact       :       Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Protect unharmed eye.

Skin contact       :       Wash off immediately with plenty of water. Take off immediately all contaminated clothes.

Inhalation       :       Supply fresh air or oxygen; call for doctor.

Ingestion       :       Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.

Notes to physician

Symptoms       :       lowered blood pressure, diarrhea, vomiting, headache

Treatment       :       Medical monitoring for at least 24 hours.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media :                 Use extinguishing measures to suit surroundings., water, foam, carbon dioxide, dry extinguishing media

Hazards during fire-fighting:                   Can be released in case of fire: nitrogen oxides, Hydrogen chloride gas, carbon oxides

Protective equipment for fire-fighting:   In case of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information:                         Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:                       Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away. Avoid dust formation.

Environmental precautions:           Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods for cleaning-up or taking-up:           For large amounts: Dampen, pick up mechanically and dispose of. For residues: Pack in tightly closed                                                                                      containers for disposal. Cleaning operations should be carried out only while wearing breathing                                                                                               apparatus. Avoid raising dust.

Handling and storage

BIBR 277 CL is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.

BIBR 277 CL is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions as defined under REACH Article 18(4) throughout its life cycle.

Specifically the substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle; procedural and control technologies are used to minimise emissions and any resulting exposures; only properly trained and authorised personnel handle the substance; special procedures such as purging and washing are applied during cleaning and maintenance works, in cases of accident and where waste is generated, proceduraland/or control technologies are used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposures; and substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.
