Materials and methods
Test guideline

- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Equipment.
The equipment used is constituted for an explosion reactor, a previous heater that enable to operate with the comburent mixture at the desired emperature and for a flow measure and mixer system for the sample gassy mixture preparation with known oxygen content. Complete the
equipment, the violence explosion measure device, which are analysed by gassy atmosphere control.
The reactor (volume = 2,3 l) is constituted for a stainless steel cylinder closed at the inferior extremity by a metallic base with cup shape that enable to content the powder and facilitate the dispersion; the reactor superior extremity is closed by a diaphragm with ventilation disc function.
A heater so as to operate at the desired temperature rolls up the reactor.
The comburent atmosphere is stored in a pressure deposit controlled by a solenoid valve and is feed to the reactor over a device that distribute the way that an efficient powder dispersion in the comburent is obtained.
The powder-air cloud is ignited by means of a metallic spiral Iead to the incandescence by a feeding system !hat supply at the beginning a tension
enable to bring the line to the incipient fusion and successively a tension to maintain that state.
The pressure observed by the measure chain constituted by a pressure transductor, the computer !hat permit the eventual register elaboration.
Procedure:
The quantity of dust predetermined is placed at the bottom of the reactor, the comburent is sent putting on the electrovalve. When the comburent
atmosphere alimentation takes place in the reactor the spark is provided to the dispersion powder-air that is hardly constituted.
The pressure increment, following an explosive phenomenon, is observed through the pressure transductor attached by means of the charge
amplificator to the data acquisition.
The mixture in which, on statistics base, a flame that is initiated in the ignition source and it is spread in the reactor volume or anyway generates a
pressure increase is considerate flammable (this term is synonym of explosivity). The sample of examination is considerate inflammable if all the
mixture with a powder concentration of at least 2000 mg/l don't give rise to flame propagation or pressure increment. - GLP compliance:
