VALIDATION
- Linearity of the detector response with respect to concentration was assessed over the nominal concentration range of zero to 5 mg/L.
- A satisfactory correlation coefficient of 0.999 was obtained.
DISCUSSION
- It was noted that on correcting for the 90 % saturation dilution step, the initial sample solution test material concentration was marginally higher than that determined during the definitive water solubility test. This implies that prior to dilution, the isolated saturated aqueous solution would have been at a concentration of 8.67 mg/L, i.e. higher than the definitive water solubility concentration.
- This finding was considered not to have impacted the validity of either investigation because the difference between concentrations was within the 15 % variance allowed for determination of water solubility using the flask method.
Description of key information
Surface tension of a 0.00780 g/L solution of test material was determined to be 70.8 mN/m at 22.0 ± 0.5 ºC and the substance was not considered to be surface active.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Surface tension:
- 70.8
- in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
- 0.008
Additional information
The surface tension of the test item was determined to be 70.8 mN/m (7.80 x 10-3g/L solution) at 22.0 ± 0.5 °C, using a ring method based on ISO 304, designed to be compatible with Method A5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. The initial sample solution test material concentration was marginally higher than that determined during the definitive water solubility test but this finding was not considered to have impacted the validity of either test. The test item was considered not to be surface-active.
