Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Measuring the surface tension of products with high viscosity is pretty challenging.

The length of the pipette was shortened to get a bigger drop.

The software is programmed to measure the immediate drop; however the drop had not enough time to be shaped because of the viscosity, thus gives us a wrong first measure.Indeed the first drop gives either a wrong surfactant profile (high first surface tension measurement with regular lower next measurements) or a very low first measure.

A manual drop method was chosen in order to adjust the time for starting the program and avoid the uneven first measurement. It remains some uneven measurements, yet.

Based on those 4 series, the average of the surface tension is 393mN 2,/m, without the first measure, the average becomes 32,92mN/m.
