Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Not readily biodegradable: 17% (ThCO2) in 28 days (OECD 301B)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A ready biodegradation study is available for Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, di-Me esters, hydrogenated (CAS 147853-32-5). This key study was performed following OECD guideline 301B and according to GLP (Clarke, 2004). Domestic activated sludge was used as inoculum and the substance (10 mg TOC/L) was directly dispersed in the culture medium by shear mixing. During the 28-day test period, biodegradation reached 17%, based on CO2 evolution. Hence, the substance is not considered as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
