Conclusions:
According to the US EPA OPP Pesticide Ecotoxicity Database the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was determined in Daphnia magna according to [72-2] Freshwater Invertebrate Acute using TGAI or TEP (FIFRA 158.490). Dahnids were exposed to several concentration of propionic acid for 48 h under static conditions. The LC50 value was determined at 22.7 mg/L.
Executive summary:

The 48 –hr-acute toxicity of Propionic acid to Daphnia magna was studied under static conditions. Test species were exposed to control, and test chemical at several concentrations for 48 hr.  Mortality was observed daily.  The 48 – hour LC50 was 22.7mg/L.  The 48 – hr NOEL based on mortality was 10 mg/L.

Based on the results of this study, the test item would not be classified as acutely toxic to Daphnia magna in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 1272/2008 (CLP).

This study is classified as acceptable/ and basically satisfies the guideline requirements for an acute toxicity study with freshwater invertebrates.
