Administrative data
First-aid measures
- General advice: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Ensure that the First Aid Personnel are aware of the product involved, and take precautions to protect themselves (e.g. wear personal protection equipment).
- Following inhalation: Remove to fresh air.
- Following skin contact: Remove contaminated clothes. Wash with soap and water. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice.
- Following eye contact: Flush eyes with water at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if eye irritation develops or persists
- Following ingestion: If swallowed, call a poison control centre or doctor immediately. Treat symptomatically.
- Most important symptoms and effects: No effects expected. In case of symptoms appear seek medical advice.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing media: Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media: No restrictions.
- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: In case of fire hazardous decomposition products may be produced such as Carbon oxides (CO, CO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Sulphur oxides (SOx).
- Advice for fire fighter:
Use Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective suit. Cool endangered containers with water spray jet. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Do not disperse powdered product in air.
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear suitable protective equipment. Keep away sources of ignition.
- Protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear suitable protective equipment such as a dust mask , chemical protective gloves and eye protection.
- Environmental precautions: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil.
- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in suitable containers for disposal. After processing, clean all equipment with water. Rinse with water.
Handling and storage
- Precautions for safe handling:
Keep container tightly closed.
Observe usual precautions when handling chemicals.
If the pure substance is handled as powder, avoid inhalation of dust and wear dust mask.
Use equipment for handling powders or other appropriate engineering controls.
Avoid eye and skin contact and wear safety goggles and impermeable gloves.
Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.
Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge.
Avoid dust formation.
Observe the usual precautionary measures required for chemicals with dust explosive properties (Observe national regulations).
- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure containers in adequate rooms, at room temperature.
Handle and open container with care.
Keep away sources of ignition.
Avoid residues outside the containers.
Keep only in the original container.
Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs,

Special provisions / remarks
- Remarks:
- Transport code: Not classified.
Transport: Transport in well sealed suitable containers (eg.
polyethylene sacks in steel drums). The containers should be
secured against falling down. Label containers in
accordance with pertinent regulations.

Exposure controls / personal protection
1. Technical protection measures: Local ventilation recommended - mechanical ventilation may be used.
2. Organisational protection measures: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
3. Hand protection: Chemical resistant gloves
4. Feet protection: Wear suitable protective equipment.
5. Body protection: Wear suitable protective equipment.
6. Eye protection: Depending on the risk, wear sufficient eye protection (safety glasses with side protection or goggles, and if necessary, face shield.)
7. Respiratory protection: Local ventilation to keep levels below established threshold values is recommended. In case of prolonged exposure to airborne dust concentrations, a suitable particle filter mask that complies with the requirements of national legislation is recommended, depending on the expected exposure levels.
Stability and reactivity
1. Reactivity: Acid dye.
2. Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.
3. Possibility of hazardous reactions: Risk of dust explosion.
4. Conditions to avoid: Keep away from heat. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.
5. Incompatible materials: not known.
6. Hazardous decomposition products: When handled and stored appropriately, no dangerous decomposition products are known
Disposal considerations
Possibility of recovery/recycling: Under normal processing the substance will be chemically bound to fibres to 99.99%.
No method for the recycling or recovery of the remaining substance is available.
Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.
Incineration in an approved, controlled furnace with combustion gas scrubbing and
emission gas control.
Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water treatment plant: It is estimated that approx. 0.01% of the total quantity used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended. The
dyestuff should be used in a well equiped dye house.
If necessary, the waste water can be purified prior to the waste water treatment by membrane filtration or by floculation with appropriate agents or by treatment with ozone. The most effective method is the membrane filtration: more than 99% of the remaining dyestuff can be removed from the waste water.
