Description of key information

For acute toxicity (EC50, LC50) in D. magna, the VEGA/COMBASE and VEGA/IRFMN models provide predictions for the target compound of 107.95 mg/l (EC50) and 5.97 mg/l (EC50), respectively, associated with a low reliability mainly due to the lack of similar compounds. Similarly, the VEGA/DEMETRA and VEGA/EPA models provide predictions of 9.25 mg/l (LC50) and 40.86 mg/l (LC50), respectively, associated with a low reliability.

With regard to chronic toxicity in D. magna, the VEGA/IRFMN predicts 1.43 mg/l of NOEC for the compound of concern, reporting low reliability and ADI= 0.237. In all the cases, the ADI is < 0.45.

Overall assessment. The predictions for acute toxicity resulting from VEGA/COMBASE and VEGA/IRFMN models (EC50) are contradictory and not associated to the necessary reliability to provide a definite assessment. However, results from VEGA/DEMETRA and VEGA/EPA models can

provide a more defined assessment, possibly assuming a LC50 between 9.25 - 40 mg/l. Similarly, the predicted value for NOEC = 1.43 seems to be in line with acute contact toxicity effects, thus it should be taken into account for chronic toxicity effects.
