First-aid measures
4.1 Description of First Aid Measures
Ingestion: Give 2-4 cups full of milk or water, do not induce vomiting; get medical attention if symptoms occur.
Skin contact: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. If symptoms occur, get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse. Clean shoes before reuse.
Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
Inhalation: Move any exposed person to fresh air at once. Keep warm and at rest. If there is respiratory distress give oxygen. If respiration stops or shows signs of failing, apply artificial respiration. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
First Aider Protection: None specific.
4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Ingestion: None specific.
Skin contact: Causes skin irritation
Eye contact: Causes serious eye irritation
Inhalation: May cause respiratory irritation
4.3
Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
General advice: Notes to physician: Treat symptomatically. Contact a poison treatment specialist if large quantities have been ingested or inhaled.
Fire-fighting measures
5.1 Extinguishing media (small and large fires)
Small Fire: foam, dry powder, CO2
Large Fire: foam, dry powder, CO2, water spray/fog
Avoid: Do never use straight streams of water
5.2.1 Specific Hazards: Combustion generates toxic fumes.
Use flooding quantities of water to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Apply water from as far a distance as possible. If safe firefighting is impossible: withdraw from area and let fire burn.
5.2.2 Protective equipment and advice for fire fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Clothing for fire-fighters (including helmets, protective boots and gloves) conforming to European standard EN 469 will provide a basic level of protection for chemical incidents.
Accidental release measures
6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency measures
6.1.1 For non-emergency personnel: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering. Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment (see Section 8).
6.1.2 For emergency responders: If specialised clothing is required to deal with the spillage, take note of any information in Section 8 on suitable and unsuitable materials. See also the information in "For non-emergency personnel".
6.2 Environmental precautions: Avoid dispersal of spilled material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers.
6.3 Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
6.3.1 For containment: Small spill : Move containers from spill area. If necessary absorb spill with inert material, then place without creating dust with shovel in a designated, labeled waste container. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.
Large spill : Move containers from spill area. Prevent entry into sewers, water courses, basements or confined areas. If necessary absorb spill with inert material, then place without creating dust with shovel in a designated, labeled waste container. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.
Note: see Section 1 for emergency contact information and Section 13 for waste disposal.
6.3.2 For cleaning up: See Section 6.3.1
6.3.3 Other information: None specific.
6.4 Reference to other sections: See Section 1 for emergency contact information.
See Section 8 for information on appropriate personal protective equipment.
See Section 13 for additional waste treatment information.
Handling and storage
7.1 Precautions for Safe Handling: Protective measures:
Put on appropriate personal protective equipment (see Section 8). Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Do not get in eyes or on skin. Do not ingest or inhale. Avoid release to the environment. Keep in the original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material, kept tightly closed when not in use. Empty containers retain product residue and can be dangerous. Do not reuse container.
Use only in a well-ventilated area. Keep container tightly closed.
Advice on general occupational hygiene: Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. See also Section 8 for additional information on hygiene measures.
7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials (see Section 10) and food and drink. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabeled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination. Store below 35 degrees C.
7.3 Specific end uses: Only to be used as transported intermediate under strictly controlled conditions

Exposure controls / personal protection
8.1 Control Parameters
Only to be used as transported intermediate under strictly controlled conditions
8.2 Exposure controls
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not swallow. Do not inhale. Wear suitable protective equipment. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Remove soiled or soaked clothing. Clean skin after work. At work do not eat, drink, smoke or take drugs. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.
8.2.1 Engineering controls: Generic local exhaust ventilation (LEV) in the production area is always required to control inhalation exposure.
8.2.2 Personal protective equipment: Respiratory protection
In case of exposure to high concentrations: wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus classified under EN 137:2006 and give operators specific training. Cartridges must be discarded after each working day.
Hand protection
Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Use chemically resistant gloves classified under EN 374, class 6 (breakthrough time > 480 minutes). Give operators specific training. An advanced occupational health and safety management system must be in use. Discard gloves after one working day or when they have come into direct contact with the mixture.
Eye and Face protection
Use safety goggles (EN 166)
Skin and body protection
Use clothing and boots as usual in the chemical industry.
8.2.3 Environmental exposure controls: Take precautionary measures against discharges into the environment
Stability and reactivity
10.1 Reactivity: Product is stable under normal storage and usage conditions
10.2 Chemical stability: The product is stable under normal storage and usage conditions
10.3 Possibility of hazardous reactions: None specific
10.4 Conditions to Avoid: Elevated temperatures
10.5 Incompatible materials: Strong oxidising and reducing agents; strong alkalis and acids; peroxides
10.6 Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides (CO; CO2), dense black smoke
Disposal considerations
13.1 Waste treatment methods: GENERAL
Must not be disposed of together with household garbage. Treat as chemical waste. Do not allow product to reach sewer system. Contact manufacturer for recycling information.
EUROPEAN WASTE CATALOGUE
