Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Aquatic acute toxicity

48 h, EC50 (Daphnia magna): 36 mg/L (mean measured concentration)

72 h, ErC50 (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata): 0.72 mg/L (mean measured concentration)

Aquatic chronic toxicity

72 h, ErC10 (Pseudokirchneriella subcapita): 0.17 mg/L (mean measured concentration)

Biodegradation: Readily biodegradable (79% degradation after 18 days in an OECD 301F study)

Partition coefficient: log Kow = 3.02 and 3.32 for two main peaks

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The test substance was found to be readily biodegradable. The test item has a lowest EC50 of < 1 mg/L for algae. The only available EC10 is >0.1 and ≤1 mg/L, for algae.

Based on these results, the substance is classified as aquatic acute category 1 (H400) as it has a lowest EC50 < 1 mg/L. Limited chronic ecotoxicity data are available for the substance therefore classification is assessed based on both acute and chronic data and the worst case classification assigned. Based on the acute data the substance would not be classified as although the lowest EC50 is < 1 mg/L the substance is readily biodegradable and has a log Kow < 4. However, based on the EC10 value of 0.72 mg/L and as the substance is rapidly degradable, a chronic classification of aquatic chronic category 3 (H412) is assigned according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) as amended for the eighth time in Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/1688.
