Principles of method if other than guideline:
The melting range was determined according to “Capillary tube in a metal block - Apparatus with photocell detection” in OECD 102 - “Melting Point / Melting Range”. A capillary tube loaded the sample, is placed in a heated metal block. The temperature rise is adjusted at a suitable pre-selected linear rate. A beam of light is directed through the sample to a photocell. On melting of the sample, the intensity of the light reaching the photocell increases and a stop signal is sent to the digital indicator reading out the temperature of the heating chamber.

The approximate melting point of the sample was determined to be about 145.0 °C, so the start temperature was set to be below 135.0 °C (135.0 °C actually).
