Reference
As a result of the initial low rate of enthalpy change during decomposition, the onset temperature could only be approximated.
Similar thermographic profiles were obtained using air and nitrogen atmospheres. This indicated that the decomposition was probably thermal and not oxidative.
Visual investigations were carried out using metal block analysis, which showed no bubbling of the test item was observed up to 280 °C, therefore it has been concluded that losses with heating were due to loss of volatiles and not boiling of the test item. There was a clear change in color of the test item at approximately 210 °C consistent with decomposition of the test item.
