Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Due to the ionic structure no adsorption onto the organic fraction of soil, sediment or sludge is expected.

Additional information

Due to the ionic structure under environmental relevant pH conditions, no adsorption onto the organic fraction of soil, sediment or slduge is expected. ED2A will under ambient conditions almost entirely be present in the salt form where it is chelated to cations present in the matrix. For EDTA it has been shown by Gardiner 1976 that metal complexes nor the free or protonated ligand itself could have been significantly adsorbed on the surfaces of the solids which is in agreement with the low log Kow of -4.79. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, a Adsoprtions-/Desporptions-Screening test (required in section 9.3.1) does not need to be conducted.
