Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General information

When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice. Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately. If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps.

Following inhalation

Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. In case of respiratory tract irritation, consult a physician.

In case of skin contact

After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. Do not wash with: Solvents/Thinner

After eye contact

In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart and consult an ophthalmologist. Protect uninjured eye. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

After ingestion

If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate medical attention. Do NOT induce vomiting. Keep at rest.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: alcohol resistant foam, Extinguishing powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Full water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

In case of fire toxic gases may be formed. In flames as well as on hot surfaces toxic and decomposition products with penetrating smell may be formed.

Advice for firefighters

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

Additional information

Use caution when applying carbon dioxide in confined spaces. Carbon dioxide can displace oxygen. Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done safely. Use water spray jet to protect personnel and to cool

endangered containers. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow entering drains or surface water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Avoid dust formation.

For non-emergency personnel

Remove persons to safety. Provide adequate ventilation.

For emergency responders

Prevent spread over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers). Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to vapours/dusts/aerosols.

Environmental precautions

Clear spills immediately. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Contain and collect spillage with a vacuum cleaner or by wet brushing and place in container for disposal according to local regulations. Avoid dust formation. Collect in closed and suitable containers for disposal. Clean contaminated articles and floor according to the environmental legislation. Ventilate affected area.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Minimum standard for preventive measures while handling with working materials are specified in the TRGS 500. Normal precautions taken when handling chemicals should be observed. Avoid dust formation. Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to vapours/dusts/aerosols. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Protective measures

Measures to prevent aerosol and dust generation

The substance should only be handled in closed apparatus or systems. If handled uncovered, arrangements with local exhaust ventilation have to be used.

Advices on general occupational hygiene

When using do not eat, drink, smoke, sniff. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

In the immediate working surroundings there must be:

Emergency shower installed . Provide eye shower and label its location conspicuously .

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. Make sure spills can be contained, e.g. in sump pallets or kerbed areas. Restrict access to stockrooms.

Further information on storage conditions

Keep/Store only in original container. Ensure adequate ventilation of the storage area.

Maximum storage temperature : 40 °C

Protect against : Heat. UV-radiation/sunlight .

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls

Technical measures and the application of suitable work processes have priority over personal protection equipment. The substance should only be handled in closed apparatus or systems. If handled uncovered, arrangements with local

exhaust ventilation have to be used.

Personal protection equipment

Eye/face protection: Eye glasses with side protection

Hand protection: The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. Avoid contact with the skin and mouth. After washing hands replace lost skin fat by fat containing skin creams.

Body protection: Use appropriate skin protection cream before work. Chemical resistant safety clothing.

Respiratory protection: If technical exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn. Suitable respiratory protection apparatus: Combination filtering device (EN 14387), Fresh-air tube device (DIN EN 138)

General information

The usual precautionary measures for the handling of chemicals have to be observed. Do not eat or drink during work - no smoking. Wash hands and face before breaks and after work and take a shower if necessary.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Conditions to avoid: Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions. Do not store at temperatures above 40 °C

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: Thermal decomposition can lead to the escape of irritating gases and vapours.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Dispose according to legislation. The waste code has to be identified in agreement with the disposal company or the competent authority.

After intended use

Contaminated packages must be completely emptied and can be re-used following proper cleaning. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
