Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline study, result published in a review article, reliable without restrictions.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
0.2 g of test item was added to 20 mL of deionised water and shaken at 200 rpm for 24 hours in a water bath at 30°C. The solution was filtered at 0.1 um and analysed by ICP-OES.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
flask method
Water solubility:
456 g/L
Temp.:
30 °C
pH:
< 0.1
Remarks on result:
other: ± 5 g/L
Details on results:
In some cases the PGM concentrations measured by ICP-OES showed a tendency of increasing values at each equilibration time. If the last two vessels varied by less than 15%, the test was deemed satisfactory. If the last two vessels varied by more than 15% then the analysis was repeated with longer equilibration times until the criteria were met.
Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): very soluble (> 10000 mg/L)
The water solubility of dihydrogen hexachloroiridate (IV) hydrate was reported as 456 g/L at 30°C.
Executive summary:

The study followed a standard guideline and results are published in a review article. The water solubility of dihydrogen hexachloroiridate (IV) hydrate was reported as 456 g/L at 30°C.

Description of key information

The water solubility of dihydrogen hexachloroiridate (IV) hydrate was reported as 456 g/L at 30°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
456 g/L
at the temperature of:
30 °C
