Description of key information

From the results of a GLP-compliant study in accordance with EC A.14, the substance should be considered to present no danger of explosion. The test substance is not explosive when exposed to intense heat (thermal sensitivity) or when exposed to shock or friction (mechanical sensitivity).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification for explosiveness according to CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008:

- The substance was not manufactured with the intention of producing an explosive effect.

- None of the tubes in the EC A.14 thermal sensitivity tests showed a deformation or had burst into fragments.

- In none of the mechanical sensitivity EC A.14 tests (shock and friction) the substance showed (traces of) vigorous reactions.

- Both major substance components A and B contain contiguous nitrogen atoms (N=N) but these are present in a low proportion.

- The oxygen balance for the major component in the substance is -192%.

- The oxygen containing groups in the molecules are known to be chemical stable.
