Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Results based on nominal concentrations as mg/L of abacavir sulphate:

Based on areas under the growth curve the results obtained at 72 hours were:

No observed effect (P=0.05) concentration (NOEC) = 30 mg L-1

Lowest observed effect (P=0.05) concentration (LOEC) = 60 mg L-1

Median effective concentration, biomass (EbC50) = 57.4 mg L-1

95% confidence limits = 56.9 - 57.8 mg L-1

Based on logarithmic growth rate over the test period, the results obtained were:

No observed effect (P=0.05) concentration (NOEC) = 30 mg L-1

Lowest observed effect (P=0.05) concentration (LOEC) = 60 mg L-1

Median effective concentration, growth rate (ErC50) = 85.4 mg L-1

95% confidence limits = 79.4 - 91.3 mg L-1

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
57.4 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
30 mg/L

Additional information

The study was carried out on one of the analogue materials. The analogue is considered to be sufficiently similar to the substance of interest (please see attached data matrix and justification in Section 13 for additional details) for it to be used for the purposes of health and environment risk assessments.

A study to assess the toxicity of the test material to the green algaSelenastrum capricornutumaccording to OECD guideline 201, Alga, Growth Inhibition test.

Test concentrations: Culture medium control and nominal concentrations of 7.5, 15, 30, 60 and 120 mg L-1.

Length of test: 72 hours, static.

Nominal test temperature: 24 ± 2°C
