Studies of this end-point and its sub-sections are waived.
Study of the end-point 5.2.1 is waived. Justification for the waiving is an adaptation according to column 2 of Annex VII, 9.2.1.1 as FMMVF fibres are inorganic.
The justification for the waiving the end-point 5.2.2. is the adaptation according to column 2 of Annex IX, 9.2.1.2. FMMVF fibres are highly insoluble in water.
In the case of 5.2.3. waiving was done based on an evaluation that such a study is considered technically not feasible. The justification is that FMMVF fibres are inorganic and do not contain any organic carbon; furthermore, these fibers are expected to have low soil adsorption. Thus, the methods on biodegradability are therefore not applicable.
It is evaluated that FMMVF fibres are not biodegradable in water and sediment.
