Test concentrations:
Aliquots of the stock solution were shaken for 24 h, then they were diluted with purified drinking water (dilution water).
Test priciples and procedure:
10 fish were used for each test concentration including controls.
Only fish in good health and free from any apparent malformation were used.
10-l glass aquaria were used as test vessels and filled with 5 l of test solution. The test animals were added to the previously prepared test solution; controls were kept in dilution water (blank).
The aquaria were slightly aerated via a glass capillary throughout the test.
The fish were exposed to various concentrations of the test substance for a period of 96 hours under static conditions. Visible abnormalities observed during the first 6 hours of the experiment were recorded. Mortalities and visual abnormalities were recorded at 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, and 96 h.
The test temperature was 23° C ± 1° C. The pH of the dilution water was 7.8 ± 0.2.
The light/dark rhythm was 14h/10h.
The pH and the oxygen concentrations of the control and of all the test concentrations were measured daily. - Duration:

- The concentration-effect relationship and the LC50 were calculated with a computer program according to Lichtfield and Wilcoxon 1949 whereas the concentrations resulting in 0% and 100% mortality were derived directly from the test.

One dead after 2 days. Complete recovery of the surviving fish at day 4.
(b) The fish were instantly nervous and hectic and after 4 hours of incubation 70% were in side and/or back position. 50% dead after 1 day and 100% dead after 2 days.
(c) After 45 min the fish swam with the backfin down and died within 22 hours in vessel no. 4 and within 2 hours in vessel no. 5.
In the main test, in the 50 and 100 mg/l groups, after 45 minutes of exposure, the fish were swimming with the backfin down and all of the fish were dead within 2 (100 mg/l) or 22 hours (50 mg/l). The fish exposed to 25 mg/l were instantly nervous and hectic. After 4 hours of exposure, 70% were in the side or back position. After Day 1, 50% were dead and 100% were dead after 2 days. The fish exposed to 12.5 mg/l were calm and sluggish, swimming with their backfin down after 24 hours of exposure. One fish died after 48 hours of exposure. The remaining fish recovered by Day 4. There were no signs of toxicity observed in the fish exposed to 6.25 mg/l.

In a 96 h acute toxicity study, Danio rerio (Teleostei, Cyprinidae) were exposed to EGDMA nominal concentrations of 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L under static conditions.
