Stability - Hydrolysis:

Read across approach was performed on data available for the chemically related substance DL-Ethylpanthenol. At pH 4, 7 and 9, a decrease in concentration < 10 % was observed after 5 days (half-life time > 1 year). Hence it was concluded that D-Panthenol is hydrolytically stable at pH 4, 7 and 9.

Biodegrdation in water: screening test

The test item was assessed for ready biodegradability in a 28-Day DOC Die-Away Test according to OECD Guideline 301 A (1992). Based on the results obtained from testing the substance was considered to be ready biodegradable. In a supporting study the inherent biodegradability of the test item was assessed according to OECD Guideline 302 B. Based on the results obtained from testing the substance was considered to be inherently biodegradable. In conclusion, the substance can be considered ready biodegradable as indicated in the key study.  

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation test

According to REACH Annex IX colums 2 the biodegradation in water and sediment does not need to be assessed as the substance is readily biodegradable.  

Biodegradation in soil:

According to REACH Annex IX colums 2 the biodegradation in soil does not need to be assessed as the substance is readily biodegradable.

Bioaccumulation:

In accordance with column 2 section 9.3.2 of REACH Annex IX, testing for aquatic bioaccumulation in unecessary. Based on a log Pow of -1.06 no bioaccumulation of the substance is expected.

Transport and distribution:

According to REACH Annex VIII column 2, assessment of adsorption/desorption can be waived as the test item has a very low logPow (-1.06). No adsorption or desorption to organic matter is expected, based on the physical-chemical properties of the test item.
