Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A 48-h EC50 value of 62 mg/l has been determined for the effects of the registered substance on mobility of Daphnia magna. However the study has been disregarded because the test medium was not neutralised and the one of the hydrolysis products, acetic acid, is produced in large quantities and does lower the test medium pH.

Data are however available for a structurally related substance, trimethoxyvinylsilane (see Aquatic toxicity section for read-across justification). A 48-h EC50 value of 169 mg/l has been determined for the effects of the test substance on mobility of Daphnia magna. A NOEC was not determined in the test. It is likely that the test organisms were primarily exposed to the hydrolysis products of the substance.

A reliable QSAR is also available for the hydrolysis product, ethylsilanetriol, where a 48-h EC50 value of 14 000 mg/l has been determined. This value supports the read-across and the decision to disregard the study available with the registered substance.
