Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysate of methyl chloroformate (Methanol, HCl, CO2): The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The hydrolysate (3 -d hydrolysis) of methyl chloroformate was tested in a GLP study following OECD TG 209. The EC50 (30 min) was determined to be > 1000 mg/L, related to nominal concentrations of the parent compound (BASF AG, 1999).

Hydrolysis product methanol: In a respiration inhibition test with activated sludge following OECD TG 209, the 3 -h EC50 was determined to be > 1000 mg/L (Kleĉka et al., 1985).
