The substance was found to be not significantly biodegradable in water containing activated sludge from a wastewater treatment plant. This may be due to its high hydrophobicity, which also makes it impossible to test the degradation in a water-sediment test. To assess the potential of degradation over a longer period of incubation, degradation was tested in soil according to OECD test guideline 307 for 120 days. No significant degradation was recorded in three different soil types during the duration of 120 days. The DT50 for soil was estimated at > 1000 days. Thus, the substance is confirmed to be persistent (P) and very persistent (vP) in the environment.
