In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the hydrolysis study as a function of pH does not need to be conducted as the substance is highly insoluble in water (30.6 µg/L).

Cholesterol was found to be inherently biodegradable according to the OECD 302C (Modified MITI (II) test): 74% degradation in 28 days.

Although no measured BCF value is available, it is anticipated that the bioaccumulation potential of cholesterol in organisms is low based on the cholesterol homeostasis and supporting QSARs.

Three log Koc values were estimated according to different calculation models. All models indicated a high adsorption potential of cholesterol (logKoc between 4.94 and 6.58). A logKoc of 4.94 was chosen as worst case approach value.
