First-aid measures

General advice: Move out of dangerous area. Consult a physician. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Symptoms of poisoning may only appear several hours later.

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Consult a physician after significant exposure.

Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash of with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Eye contact: Immediately flush eye(s) with plenty of water. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

Ingestion: Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Obtain medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides, Tin oxide fumes.

Thermal decomposition: >230 °C

Further information: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Specific hazards during fire fighting: Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Normal measures for preventative fire protection.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for containment/Methods for cleaning up: Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

HANDLING

Advice on safe handling: Avoid exceeding of the given occupational exposure limits. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection refer to section Exposure controls/personal protection. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Advice of protection against fire and explosion: Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

STORAGE

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Prevent unauthorised access. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Other data: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

ENGINEERING MEASURES

Engineering measures: Effective exhaust ventilation system. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the worksation location.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIMENT

Eye protection: Eye wash bottle with pure water. Tightly fitting goggles.

Hand protection: Polyvinyl alcohol or nitrile-butyl-rubber gloves. The selectede protective gloves have to satisfy the specification of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Before removing gloves clean them with soap and water.

Skin and body protection: Impervious clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.

Respiratory protection: In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter.

Hygiene measures: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Extremes of temperature and direct sunlight. Exposure to moisture. Contamination.

Materials to avoid: Acids, Bases, Oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides, Tin oxide fumes.

Thermal decomposition: >230 °C

Note: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Disposal considerations

Further information: Dispose of as hazardous waste in compliance with local and national regulations. Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility. Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with chemical or used container. Offer surplus and non-recyclable solutions to a licensed disposal company.

Contaminated packaging: Empty remaining contents. Dispose of as unused product. Do not re-use empty containers.
