Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air, if signs/symptoms occur.
If signs/symptoms persist, call a physician.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water and seek medical
advice. (Not expected to be an eye irritant at room
temperature.)
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water. (Not expected to be
a skin irritant at room temperature.)
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink two glasses of water. Call a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: data to be supplied
Product arising from burning: CO, CO2 and HF
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Avoid breathing the thermal decomposition products formed
during a fire. In case of severe fire where total thermal
decomposition of the substance is possible, wear full
protective clothing including a helmet, self-contained,
positive pressure or pressure demand breathing apparatus,
bunker coat and pants, bands around arms, waist and legs, a
face mask and protective covering for exposed areas of the
head.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: In accordance with good industrial hygiene practice, provide
exhaust ventilation for large spills or in confined areas.
Collect spilled material with an absorbent. Place in an
approved container.
Incinerate material in an industrial or commercial facility
in the presence of a combustible material. Combustion
products will include hydrogen fluoride. Disposal
alternative: Reclaim if feasible.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors.
Storage: No special storage required.
Store under normal warehouse conditions.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be packed in a 1 gallon glass bottle, and
in 5, 30, and 55 gallon metal drums.
The preparation containing the substance as a component,
HFE-71DE 3M(TM) Specialty Fluid, will be packaged in 1
gallon glass bottle and 5, 30 and 55 gallon metal drums.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The possibility of recycling the used substance is very high
due to the stability of the substance and east of separation
from other materials. The high cost of the substance makes
recycling desirable from an economic standpoint.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: not applicable
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable. Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration in the presence of a combustible material in an
industrial or commercial incinerator capable of handling
halogenated waste.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: not applicable
