Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move individual to fresh air. Get medical attention if
breathing difficulty occurs. If not breathing, provide
artificial respiration assistance (mouth to mouth) and call
a physician immediately.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Get
immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and clean before re-use. Wash
all exposed areas of skin with soap and water. Get medical
attention if irritation develops.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Call a physician or poison control centre. Drink one or two
glasses of water. Do not induce vomiting or give anything by
mouth to an unconscious person. Immediately transport to a
medical care facility and see a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water, carbon dioxide, dry chemical, foam, or Halon.

Product arising from burning: May emit toxic chloride fumes when heated to decomposition.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing and a
self contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain dry material by sweeping or vacuuming. Vacuuming may
disperse dust if appropriate dust collection filter is not
part of the vacuum. Be aware of potential dust explosion
when using electrical equipment. Wear protective equipment,
including eye protection, to avoid exposure.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be only handled where adequate
ventilation/extraction is in place, eg. laboratory fume hood
or local exhaust ventilation. An approved respirator and
safety glasses should be used. Chemical resistant gloves and
body covering should be worn to minimise skin contact. If
handled in a ventilated enclosure, as in a laboratory
setting, respirator and goggles or face shield may not be
required. Safety glasses are always required.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers in a cool place.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be packaged in black polyethylene bags.
The bags will be contained in UN 1G/Y121S; UFC 12, Rule 51;
NMFC Item 296.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: May react with strong oxidizing agents (e.g., peroxides,
permanganates, nitric acid, etc.).

Chemical reaction with water: None known

Dust explosion: As a finely divided material, may form dust mixtures in air
which could explode if subjected to an ignition source. May
emit toxic chloride fumes when heated to decomposition.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Material is not recovered or recycled.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Controlled discharged is not recommended for this substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is the preferred method of disposal according
to Integrated Pollution Licence granted by EPA.

A663.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable. Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.
