Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: If inhaled remove to fresh air. If not breathing gives
artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give
oxygen. Call for the doctor.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least
15 minutes, while holding eyelids open. Alternatively use
saline solution. Call for the doctor.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin with copious amounts of water for at least
15 minutes. Call for the doctor.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Call for the doctor.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Use dry powder or foam extinguishers. Spray water to cool
down the packaging.
Product arising from burning: Dangerous combustion products: carbon oxides, nitrogen
oxides and chlorhydric acid.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Autonomous respiration equipment.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Personal protection
Uses personal protection measures mention in the point 8 of
the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Clean-up methods
Sweep up the spillage and put it in the hands of a certified
waste operator, in accordance with local regulations. Avoid
its spread in the air.
Label and store for waste disposal.
Wash the contaminated area with water.
Individual precautions, for protecting environment and
cleaning methods, use the following equipments:
- respiratory protection: needed particulate respirator P3,
- eyes protection: needed safety glasses compulsory,
- hands protection: needed gloves.
Particular hygiene measures: change at once any contamined
garment. Preventive protection of the skin. Hands and face
washing at the conclusion of the work.
Collect the product and avoid dispersion into the air.
Ventilate and wash the contaminated area.
Place in a container for destruction.
Do not evacuate to the waste water system.
Handling and storage
Handling: Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
Use in a well-ventilated area.
Safety shower and eyewash unit should be closed by.
Storage: Keep the container tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry
place. Keep away from igniting and heat sources.
Only approachable by skilled staff.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Two polyethylene bags into 1 polyethylene drum of
120 litres. 60 kg ETHYLE NORVALINATE S HCl/drum 120 L.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Exposure controls
Appropriate engineering controls
If this product contains ingredients with exposure limits, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure below any recommended or statutory limits.
Individual protection measures
Hygiene measures
Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period.
Respiratory protection
Must be handled preferentially under strictly containment. Use a type 2 disposable dust mask.
Eye/face protection
Goggles should be worn.
Hand protection
Wear suitable gloves. If used in a solvent, chose gloves appropriated to solvent.
Body protection
Wear clothes dedicated to handling of chemical products. Suitable protective footwear. Disposable outer garments when there is a risk of contact with the material.
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Main danger: sensitizing by skin contact.
Chemical reaction with water: None.
Dust explosion: The test was not performed. The absence of reactive groups
in the chemical structure indicates that the substance
should be incapable of forming gases or reaching a high
temperature.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
