Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is a toxicologically and chemically inert, refractory inorganic solid. The substance is insoluble in water.

Based on the physicochemical properties of the read across substance, absorption is not predicted following oral, dermal or inhalation exposure. This is supported by the absence of toxicity in an acute oral toxicity study at the limit dose of 2000 mg/kg bw and by the absence of toxicity in a 28-day rat study at the limit dose of 1000 mg/kg bw/d. The substance is not a skin irritant; mild transient effects seen in an eye irritation study are consistent with mechanical rather than chemical irritation. The substance is not a skin sensitiser and is not mutagenic in vitro.

In the absence of oral absorption, ingested material will be excreted quantitatively and unchanged in the feces. Depending on the particle size, inhaled material may be retained in the lung, but is not predicted to be systemically absorbed.
