First-aid measures

INHALATION

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration and /or oxygen. Get medical attention if symptoms persist.

SKIN CONTACT

Remove contaminated clothing. Flush skin with plenty of soap and water. Get medical attention if symptoms occur (irritation).

EYE CONTACT

Rinse eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical attention.

INGESTION

If swallowed, wash out mouth with water. Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Water, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide.

UNSUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

No limitations given for this substance.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE

Combustible, but not flammable. In case of fire toxic fumes of mono carbon oxide (CO) may be formed.

ADVICE FOR FIRE-FIGHTERS

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Use recommended personal protective equipment during removal of spillages.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS

Do not let the substance enter into drains.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP

Moisten the spillages prior to sweeping up. Keep inclosed suitable container and hold for waste disposal.

Ventilate area and wash spill site with water aftermaterial pickup is complete.

REFERENCE TO OTHER SECTIONS

See section 8 for personal protective equipment forhandling the spill.

See section 13 for disposal considerations.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

Avoid breathing dust or vapours and contact with eyes and skin. Handle in well ventilated areas. Use recommended personal protective equipment (see section 8).

CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES

Store at regular indoor conditions, generally 15 to25°C. Keep container tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

CONTROL PARAMETERS

To the best of our knowledge, no established occupational exposure limit values are available.

EXPOSURE CONTROLS

Avoid contact with this substance during pregnancy and while nursing. Women of childbearing potential  should consult company’s internal reproductive health programme prior to, or during, handling of this substance.

APPROPRIATE ENGINEERING CONTROLS

Use appropriate controls (e.g. containment, local exhaust ventilation, fume hood) as specified in a workplace risk assessment to ensure that the defined exposure limits are met. Technical measures and appropriate operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Eye face protection: Safety goggles

Skin protection: Handle with impervious gloves. The selected glovesmust comply with the specifications in EC Directive 89/686/EEC and the relatedstandard EN374 or applicable federal, state and national legislation.

Protective clothing: Impervious clothing. The type should be selected according to concentrations and quantities of the hazardous substance handled at the specific workplace. In dust generating operation wear disposable coverall.

Respiratory protection: Required when dusts are generated. Choice of respiratory protection should be appropriate to the task and the level of existing engineering controls. Use air-purifying respirator with combination filters for routine powder handling in process scale and positive-pressure air-supplied respirator if there is a potential of uncontrolledrelease. In laboratories, use fume hood or dust control hood.

Environmental exposure controls:  Do not empty into drains.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY

No known reactivity hazards under normal conditions.

CHEMICAL STABILITY

The substance is chemically stable under standard ambient conditions (room temperature), generally 15 to 25°C.

POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS

None known.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID

No known conditions that would produce hazardous situations.

INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS

Oxidants. Strong acids. Darkens and deteriorates slowly in contact with air (oxygen).

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS

Monocarbon oxide (CO).

Disposal considerations

Dispose waste at authorized plant, in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and/or applicable federal,

state, national and local laws.
