Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Take care of your own personal safety.

Move out of dangerous area.

Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

Keep warm, position comfortably, and cover well.

Do not leave affected persons unattended.

Inhalation

Monitor breathing, seek medical advice immediately.

Apply artificial respiration if necessary

Keep warm and in a quiet place.

Skin contact

Wash off affected area immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Consult plant physician or other physician immediately

Eye contact

Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.

Ingestion

Flush mouth immediately, then drink plenty of water, avoid vomiting, consult physician

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms

After absorbing large amounts of substance:

Liberation of reaction products (ethanol) can lead to symptoms of poisoning.

Possible signs of poisoning:

daze, dizziness, nausea, colicky abdominal pain, respiratory disturbance.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Continue with first aid measures.

Depending on the pathology and clinical findings, patient monitoring and symptomatic treatment are

necessary.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, foam, CO2, dry powder.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: high volume water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

May be released in case of fire: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.

isocyanate-containing vapours

Under certain fire conditions, traces of other toxic products may occur.

In case of fire cool endangered containers with water.

Advice for firefighters

In case of fire: full protective suit and wear a self contained respiratory apparatus

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.

Environmental precautions

Contain spilled product and prevent any contamination of soil, the sewer system or water bodies.

Do not allow entrance in soil, stretches of water, groundwater, drainage systems, surface water.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Collect up material. Transfer into suitable containers for recovery or disposal.

Disposal according to local authority regulations.

Suitable material for picking up:

Sand

Kieselguhr

Universal binder

Additional advice

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Provide sufficient ventilation and exhaust at the workplace.

Application, processing: Extraction at the emission source required.

Open the containers with caution.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

In use, may form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture.

Keep away from combustion sources such as sparks, flames and unprotected light sources

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Explosion protection equipment required.

When repairs of the production system are to be made (e.g. welding work), the section to be repaired

must be essentially free of product.

Storage

Introduction into soil, natural water bodies or sewerage must be prevented.

Further information

Store in original container.

Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Avoid moisture.

Advice on common storage

Observe prohibition against storing together!

Storage stability

Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Engineering measures

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection

In case of dusts/vapours/aerosols being formed or if the limit values like TLV are exceeded:

use respiratory equipment with suitable filter (filter type ABEK) or wear a self contained respiratory

apparatus.

Use only respiratory protection equipment with CE-symbol including four digit test number.

The filter class for the respirator must be suitable for the maximum expected contaminant concentration

(gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that may arise when handling the product. If this concentration is

exceeded, self-contained breathing apparatus must be used.

Note time limit for wearing respiratory protective equipment.

Hand protection

No protective glove type has been specified for use with this product. The glove listed is only a preliminary

recommendation issued by Kächele-Cama Latex GmbH, Am Kreuzacker 9, D-36124 Eichenzell,

www.kcl.de, which firm offers such protective gloves. The glove must be changed immediately if any

changes in it occur (e.g. swelling, wear).

Glove material nitrile rubber (Camatril Velours)

Material thickness 0,4 mm

Break through time > 30 min

Eye protection

close-fitting protective goggles (e.g. closed goggles)

Skin and body protection

When handling larger quantities:

Wear protective clothing made from non-flammable fibres.

Hygiene measures

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Do not eat, drink or smoke while working. Wash hands, and/or face before breaks and when workday is

finished.

Protective measures

It should be defined in the work place in the form of a risk analysis according to directive 89/686/EEC and

amendments.

If workplace exposure limits are exceeded and/or larger amounts are released (leakage, spilling, dust) the

indicated respiratory protection should be used.

If there is the possibility of skin/eye contact, the indicated hand/eye/body protection should be used.

Do not breathe in vapours or aerosols.

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Under normal conditions: stable.

Chemical stability

Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

hydrolysis

Conditions to avoid

humidityKeep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Vapours can form explosive mixtures with air.

Incompatible materials

humid air and water, Acids and bases

Hazardous decomposition products

Ethanol in case of hydrolysis

Disposal considerations

Product

With respect to local regulations, e.g. dispose of to suitable waste incineration plant.

No waste key number as per the European Waste Types List can be assigned to this product, since such

classification is based on the (as yet undetermined) use to which the product is put by the consumer.

The waste key number must be determined as per the European Waste Types List (decision on EU Waste

Types List 2000/532/EC) in cooperation with the disposal firm / producing firm / official authority.

Uncleaned packaging

Do not reuse empty containers and dispose of in accordance with the regulations issued by the

appropriate local authorities.
