Any other information on results incl. tables
Dosages at or above the LD 50 caused severe lung hemorrhage, mottled livers and kidneys and irritation of the stomach and intestines. This acute oral toxicity is roughly equivalent to that of 76% ethylene diamine and somewhat greater than that of triethylene tetramine LD50 4.34 g/kg, and tetraethylene pentamine LD50 3.99 g/kg.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The oral LD50 for male albino rats fed a 10% dilution of diethylene triamine in water is 2.33 (2.08 to 2.61) g/kg. It is a moderately toxic compound as judged by its acute oral toxicity for rats.
- Executive summary:
Diethyiene triamine, LD50 2.33(2.08 to 2.61) g/kg, is a moderately toxic compound as judged by its acute oral toxicity for rats. It is roughly equivalent in toxicity to the 76% solution of ethylene diamine currently being tested and is somewhat more toxic than triethylene tetramine and tetraethylene pentamine which have LD50 values of 4.34 and 3.99 g/kg respectively.
