First-aid measures

- Description of first aid measures

In case of skin contact: Immediately take off all contaminated clothing. OBTAIN IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose off safely. After contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and plenty of water.

In case of  eyes contact: After contact with the eyes, rinse with water with the eyelids open for a sufficient length of time, then consult an opthalmologist immediately. Protect uninjured eye.

In case of Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting.

In case of Inhalation: In case of inhalation, consult a doctor immediately and show him packing or label.

- Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.

- Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

In case of accident or unwellness, seek medical advice immediately (show directions for use or safety data sheet if possible).

Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

- Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Water. Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: None in particular.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases.

Burning produces heavy smoke.

Products of combustion include carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulphur oxides (SOx).

- Advice for firefighters

Use suitable breathing apparatus .

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done safely.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Wear personal protection equipment.

Remove all sources of ignition.

Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to vapours/dusts/aerosols.

Provide adequate ventilation.

Use appropriate respiratory protection.

- Environmental precautions

Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Retain contaminated washing water and dispose it.

In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities.

Suitable material for taking up: absorbing material, organic, sand

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Wash with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling

Avoid contact with skin and eyes, inhalation of vapours and mists.

Use localized ventilation system.

Don't use empty container before they have been cleaned.

Before making transfer operations, assure that there aren't any incompatible material residuals in the containers.

Contamined clothing should be changed before entering eating areas.

Do not eat or drink while working.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Store under inert gas.

Store away from strong oxidants, strong bases, strong acids.

Keep this product in a dry place. Reacts strongly with water or moist air.

Keep container tightly closed.

Store container in a well ventilated position.

The product must be handled in closed plants.

Before a closed system is opened, purging and washing of the system have to be applied.

Only trained and authorised personnel is allowed to handle the substance.

Limit duration and extent of exposure.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18 (4) for transported isolated intermediates.

Keep away from food, drink and feed.

Incompatible materials: Oxidation agents, acids, bases and water. Metals.

Instructions as regards storage premises: Adequately ventilated premises.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side protection for chemicals (EN166).

Protection for skin: Wear protective clothing resistant to corrosive products. Use clothing that provides a full protection to the skin.

Protection for hands: Use protective gloves according to EN 374 standards, on the base of the intended use (penetration and permeation). Replace gloves immediately in case of degradation.

Respiratory protection: For normal use is not required respiratory protection.

Thermal Hazards: No particular fire or explosion hazard.

Environmental exposure controls: Containers may be hazardous when empty since they retain product residues.

Appropriate engineering controls: None

Stability and reactivity

- Reactivity

Violent exothermic reaction with water (moisture): release of highly flammable gases/vapours.

It can be corrosive to metals.

- Chemical stability

Incompatible with water humid air.

- Possibility of hazardous reactions

Keep away from any possible contact with water, because of violent reaction and possible flash fire.

- Conditions to avoid

Avoid humidity

- Incompatible materials

Oxidation agents, acids, bases and water.

Metals.

-  Hazardous decomposition products

Products of combustion include carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulphur oxides (SOx).

Disposal considerations

Recover, if possible. Send to authorised disposal plants or for incineration under controlled conditions. In so doing, comply with the local and national regulations currently in force.
