Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There is one study available, in which the ready biodegradability of Tetraesters of 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3-diol and decanoic and octanoic acid (CAS 68441-68-9) was assessed according to OECD guideline 301F and GLP by inoculating a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L test item with 30 mg/L activated sludge for 28 d. Procedure and toxicity controls were run in parallel.

After 28 d, the test item attained 75% biodegradation. According to OECD and ECHA guidance documents, the 10-day window can be waived for UVCB substances. Therefore, the substance is readily biodegradable according to guideline criteria, since > 60% biodegradation was achieved within 28 d. This result is confirmed by a reliable QSAR calculation using BIOWIN v4.10 for the two main constituents (C8 and C10).
