Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC10 (3 h) of > 1000 mg/L for activated sludge microorganisms (OECD 209).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study, investigating the toxicity to activated sludge microorganisms is available for fatty acids, C8-10 (even numbered), di-and triesters with propylidynetrimethanol (CAS 11138-60-6). This respiration inhibition test (Kuttler, 1998) with domestic activated sludge according to OECD 209 showed an increase in respiration of 43% at the nominal tested concentration of 10000 mg/L compared to the control. No inhibition of respiration rate was observed. Therefore an EC50 and EC10 (3 h) of > 10000 mg/L (nominal) was derived. Furthermore, the available biodegradation tests clearly show that the substance is readily biodegradable. Thus, a disturbance in the biodegradation process of a sewage treatment plant is not anticipated.
