Description of key information

The substance was found to be neither shock sensitive nor thermally sensitive according to the test guidelines EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties.) and accordingly is classified as non-explosive.

Data obtained from a well documented proprietary report carried out to OECD guidelines so can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. The study was given a reliability of 2 because it was not carried out to GLP. According to the report's owners the substance di-n-butene can be classified as CAS 11071-47-9 (Isooctene). The substance was found to be neither shock sensitive nor thermally sensitive according to the test guidelines EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties) and accordingly is classified as non-explosive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is classified as non-explosive based on EU Method A. 14 (Explosive Properties) assessment criteria. According to the assessement criteria no thermal sensitivity was detected. Also, none of the six single tests with the impact energy of 40 J resulted in any spark or exploding, showing the substance is not sensitive to shock.
