First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
General information:
In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice (show label or SDS where possible).
After inhalation:
Provide fresh air.
After contact with the skin:
Wash with plenty of water or water and soap. In the event of a visible skin change or other complaints, seek medical advice (show
label or SDS where possible).
After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical advice in case of continuous irritation.
After swallowing:
Give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Any relevant information can be found in other parts of this section.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
No data are available.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
water mist , extinguishing powder , alcohol-resistant foam , carbon dioxide , sand .
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
water spray , water jet .

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
-

Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Wear personal protection equipment (see section Exposure controls/personal protection). Keep unprotected persons away. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid
inhaling mists and vapours. If material is released indicate risk of slipping.

Environmental precautions
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material
(e.g. earth). Retain contaminated water/extinguishing water. Dispose of in prescribed marked containers.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Do not flush away with water. For small amounts: Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose
of according to local/state/federal regulations. Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers. Clean any slippery
coating that remains using a detergent / soap solution or another biodegradable cleaner. Exhaust vapours.
Further information:
Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Reference to other sections
Relevant information in other sections have to be considered. This applies in particular for information given on personal
protective equipment (section 8) and on disposal (section Disposal considerations).

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
General information:
Avoid exposure by technical measures or personal protective equipment.
Precautions for safe handling:
Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from incompatible substances in accordance with section 10. Spilled substance
increases risk of slipping.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Product can separate methanol. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process
vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Keep away from sources of
ignition and do not smoke. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging. Cool endangered containers with water.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Make sure there is no possibility of entering the ground. Suitable material for storage containerts, casks and pipelines: stainless
steel . Unsuitable material for storage containers, casks and pipelines: steel , nonferrous metals .
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
not applicable
Further information for storage:
Store in original container only. Protect against moisture. Keep container tightly closed and store in a well-ventilated place. Keep
away from sources of heat. Store in the dark. The effect of direct sunlight or UV radiation must be completely ruled out, even
during transit. In the product and in the gas space of the container, a small quantity of oxygen must be present for stabilisation.

Specific end use(s)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters
-
Exposure controls
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled
General protection and hygiene measures:
Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection
In case of long or strong exposure: gas mask filter ABEK .
Hand protection
Protective gloves made of butyl rubber . Gloves suitable for up to 60 minutes' use. The selection of appropriate gloves not only
depends on the material, but also on other quality characteristics, and may vary depending on the manufacturer. Please observe
information from your glove supplier in terms of permeability and breakthrough time.
Eye protection
tight fitting protective goggles .
Skin protection
protective clothing .

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled
Prevent material from entering surface waters and soil.

Further information for system design and engineering measures
Observe information in section Handling and Storage.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity; Chemical stability; Possibility of hazardous reactions
If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.
Relevant information can possibly be found in other parts of this section.

Conditions to avoid
moisture . Possibility of spontaneous polymerization of unstabilized product by ambient temperature.

Incompatible materials
Radical initiators (peroxid, light, heat, heavy metal compounds) may cause polymerization. Reacts with: water , basic substances
or acids . Reaction causes the formation of: methanol .

Hazardous decomposition products
Under the effect of humidity, water and protic agents: methanol .

Further information:
Product contains polymerization inhibitor.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Material
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.
Observe local/state/federal regulations.
