Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media Suitable extinguishing media: Foam. Dry powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Water spray jet.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture Hazardous combustion products: Carbon monoxide. Ammonia. Nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Advice for firefighters

Self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 133).

Additional advice:

Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Environmental precautions : Avoid subsoil penetration. Do not let enter drains/ surface water/ ground water.

Methods for cleaning up : Use mechanical handling equipment. Put into suitable containers and take for recycling or disposal. Soak up with a liquid binder (e.g. sand, universal binder). Dispose of recovered material according to the regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Fire prevention measures:

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Avoid subsoil penetration.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods Waste from residues:

In accordance with the waste recycling/disposal regulations, has to be taken to an approved waste disposal facility. The classification of the waste has to be made according to its source in accordance with the European waste code regulations.

Contaminated packaging:

Disposal according to the regulations, contaminated packaging has to be treated in the same way as the substance itself. Packaging should be completely emptied, and then taken to an approved recycler after appropriate cleaning.

Recommended cleaning agent: Water
