Description of key information

Based on data on analogous substances, Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., zinc salts is readily biodegradable. Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., zinc salts consists of a metal cation and a carboxylic acid anion. Whereas abiotic degradation is not relevant for zinc cations, the atmospheric half-life of C14-18 saturated and C16-18-unsatd. fatty acids is estimated with 0.63 to 7.63 hours (7.63, 6.53, 5.71, 1.77, 1.70 (cis/trans), 1.0 (cis/tans) 0.71 (cis/trans) hours for tetradecanoic acid (C14), hexadecanoic acid (C16), octadecanoic acid (C18), cis-9-hexadecenoic acid (C16 unsatd.), 9-octadecenoic acid (C18 unsatd.), 9,12-octadecadienoic acid (C18 unsatd.) and 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid (C18 unsatd.), respectively). Due to the lack of respective functional groups, hydrolysis is not relevant for C14-18 saturated and C16-18-unsatd. fatty acids. In sum, Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., zinc salts is not expected to be persistent in the environment.
