from 1988-08-08 to 1989-02-01
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))

Key result
Test procedure:
other: combustibility index
Remarks on result:
other: substance does not catch fire

not flammable as such: BZ = 1

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item diammonium persulfate was determined not flammable.
Executive summary:

The test item diammonium persulfate was determined not flammable. (BZ = 1, no flame expansion)

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
flammable gases
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:

Description of key information

The test item diammonium persulfate was determined to be not flammable. Additionally, no flammability in contact with water and no pyrophoric abilities were expected. Thus, the latter two studies were waived.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test item diammonium persulfate was determined to be not flammable. (BZ = 1, no flame expansion)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results obtained from the flammability test (non flammable, Key study) and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP), as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) 2020/1182, diammonium persulfate was not considered a flammable solid.
