Additional information

Skin irritation/corrosion:

Three high quality GLP-compliant studies conducted in accordance with internationally accepted guidelines are available for skin irritation/corrosion. Slight transient erythema was seen in two of the tests (Sterner and Chibanguza, 1988c; Deenihan, 1988d). There was no evidence of irritation in the third study (James, 1991c). On this basis is is concluded that copper dihydroxide is not classified on the basis of skin irritation/corrosivity.

Eye irritation/corrosion:

Adverse effects seen in two GLP-compliant studies were not fully reversible at the end of the obseravtion periods. On this basis, it is concluded that copper dihydroxide is classified as follows on the basis of eye irritation/corrosivity:

  • According to Directive 67/548/EEC: Irritant (Xi). R41, risk of serious damage to eyes.
  • According to CLP/GHS: Eye Damage 1, H318: Causes serious eye damage.
