- long-term toxicity to fish
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: Study with limited documentation and with no data on GLP compliance. In the OECD SIDS on 2-Naphthol (2002) a similar reliability was assigned.

- Effect conc.:
- 0.001 mg/L
- Basis for effect:
- other: embryo larval mortality and teratogenesis
- Details on results:
- Teratic larvae were observed at frequencies of 2 % to 36 % over an exposure range of 0.001 to 0.907 mg/l. The LC50 value was 0.08 mg/l (95 % Conf. Lim. 0.06 - 0.1 mg/l) at hatching and 0.07 mg/l (95 % Conf. Lim. 0.06 - 0.09 mg/l) at 4 days posthatching.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Using embryo larval stages of the rainbow trout, continuous flow toxicity tests were performed on beta-naphthol. LC50 based on combined frequencies of embryo larval mortality and teratogenesis were 0.08 mg/l at hatching (23d) and 0.07 mg/l at 4 days posthatching.
