Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Reaction Mass of DEGDB and DPGDB:

- Key study, reliability 1, EU Method C.19 (Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (KOC) on Soil and Sewage Sludge Using High Performance Luquid Chromatography (HPLC)) - log Koc = 2 .94 - 3.52 at 30 °C

Additional information

This substance is a reaction mass of dipropylene glycol dibenzoate (DPGDB) and diethylene glycol dibenzoate (DEGDB). Testing has been performed on the reaction mass itself.

The key value used in the chemical safety assessment is:

Adsorption coefficient (Koc) = 872 - 3.28 x 10³ (at 30°C)

The Adsorption and Desorption of the reaction mass of DEGDB and DPGDB has been determined according to EU Method C.19 (Estimation of the organic-normalized Adsorption Coefficient (KOC) on Soil and Sewage Sludge Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)). The components represented by peak numbers 1 to 3 were considered to be minor components of the test item or impurities. Therefore, they were not used in the final result of the adsorption coefficient. The mobile phase pH was not adjusted as the test item had no modes of dissociation within in the environmentally relevant pH range, therefore a neutral pH was utilized.

The adsorption coefficient result was taken from peak numbers 4 to 7 as these represented the main components of the test item and 94.7 % by percentage area normalisation.

The adsorption coefficient of the test item has been determined to be as follows: log Koc = 2 .94 - 3.52 at 30°C and Adsorption coefficient range: 872 to 3.28 x 10³ at 30 °C.
