Additional information

Three acute freshwater ecotoxicological studies were conducted: a fish, a daphnia and an alga, all using WAF preparations. The fish study yielded a 96 -hour LL50 of 7.90 mg/L while the 48 -hour EL50 for the daphnia was 8.98 mg/L. Because Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA has cationic properties, the testing medium was augmented with humic acid, per EPA 1996 (OPPTS 850.1085), in the species predicted to be the most sensitive: the alga. The addition of humic acid reduced the toxicity of Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA to algae from 0.179 to 4.94 mg/L and was concluded to be the most sensitive species.
