Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: No symptoms known or expected.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local cir-cumstances and the surrounding environment.

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Hazardous combustion products:

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Carbon monoxide

No hazardous combustion products are known

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode.

Further information: Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if there is a fire.

No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Put on appropriate personal protection equipment.

Do not touch or walk through spilt material.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering.

Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.

Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment.

Environmental precautions: Avoid dispersal of spilt material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up: Stop leak if safe to do so.

Move containers from spill area.

Wash spillages into an effluent treatment plant or proceed as follows.

Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations.

Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility.

Do not allow into the sewerage system, surface waters or groundwater or into the soil.

Handling and storage

Manufacture and use of this chemical intermediate takes place under strictly controlled conditions, as described in Art. 17/18 REACH. The substance is rigorouslycontained during manufacturing and use and appropriate risk management measures including PPE (i.g. during charging or sampling) are applied. Occupational exposure is reduced to a minimum and well controlled by measurements. A management system covering all general aspects of a chemical production is in place, especially cleaning and maintenance of plants and equipment. An authorisation scheme based on instructions covering the whole process ensures that only trained and authorised staff handles the substance.

Advice on safe handling: Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment be-fore entering eating areas.

Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking.

Put on appropriate personal protection equipment.

Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Do not use sparking tools.

Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations.

Hygiene measures: Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lava-tory and at the end of the working period. Appropriate tech-niques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials and food and drink. Keep container closed when not in use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate container to avoid environmental contamination. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls/personal protection

Control parameters

Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Exposure controls

Engineering measures

Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control worker exposure to airborne contaminants.

Personal protective equipment

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields

Hand protection

Material: Butyl rubber - IIR

Material: Nitrile rubber - NBR

Remarks:

After contamination with product change the gloves immediately and dispose of them according to relevant national and local regulations. The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves.

Skin and body protection: Wear protective clothing.

Respiratory protection: if product forms vapour/aerosol.

Vapour respirator

Filter type: ABEK-P2-filter

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: No specific test data related to reactivity available for this product or its ingredients.

Chemical stability: The product is chemically stable.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

Conditions to avoid: No specific data.

Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or ex-pose such containers to heat, flame, sparks, or other sources of ignition.

They may explode and cause injury and/or death.

Incompatible materials

Materials to avoid: No specific data.

Hazardous decomposition products: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product: The generation of waste should be avoided or minimised wherever possible.

This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe way.

Empty containers retain product residue; observe all precau-tions for product.

Avoid dispersal of spilt material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers.
