Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If person is not breathing give
artifical respiration. If breathing is difficult administer
oxygen. Seek immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Hold eyelids apart and flush with plenty of water for 15
minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with plenty of soap
and water. Launder contaminated clothing before re-use. Seek
immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Vomiting may be induced if a person is conscious and not
experiencing convulsions. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical foam and powder.

Product arising from burning: Hazardous decomposition products may consist of carbon,
nitrogen and sulphur oxides, and fluorine fumes. However,
there is no experimental evidence to support the anticipated
combustion products.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full chemical and flame resistant protective clothing
gloves, boots and self-contained breathing apparatus must be
worn.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to
the relevant national or international standards, as
mentioned in section 2.3.10. At a minimum PPE consisting of
coverall, shoe covers, eye protection, impermeable gloves
and a respirator with high efficency filters or cartridges
should be used.

Minimise dust formation by damping down with water. Absorb
spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material (eg.
sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste
containers, or use a wet/dry HEPA vacuum. Containers filled
with waste material must be labelled in the same way as the
original substance containers.

Clean the spillage area with water and detergent and
ventilate the area.

Dispose of waste material in accordance with local
regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to prevent exposure to the
extent technically feasible.

Engineering controls in the form of ventilation are
necessary to reduce exposure to the substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166.

Respiratory protective equipment. eg. a respirator
conforming to EN136.

Gloves should be changed regularly and removed after overt
contamination. Rubber, neoprene or other gloves may be
required if solvents, corrosives or other chemicals are
present.

These measures mentioned above should be regarded as a
minimum.

Storage: Store in a dark, dry area, away from heat and sunlight.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Ensure
containers are properly labelled

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Material is packaged in UN approved fibre drums.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Class 1 dust.

Material exhibits strong explosion characteristics if
ignited as a dust cloud. Material is highly susceptible to
accumulating static charges during processing and
uncontrolled static discharge may result in igniting a dust
cloud under certain conditions due to the low minimum
ignition energy. Provide suitable bonding and grounding for
containers and process equipment to control static charges.
Powder handling equipment such as dust collectors, dryers,
and mills may require additional protective measures (eg.
explosion venting). Tests conducted include explosion
severity (kst); minimum ignition energy of dust cloud,
resistivity at ambient temperature, and charge decay time.
See MSDS (Annex 7) for specific data

Dust explosion determined by test: Y

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of off-site by closed cycle incineration. Recovery
of larger spillages of uncontaminated material for
subsequent use is recommended. As material is used in the
process, no recycling of material is possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the
material.

The dust hazard will be minimised by engineering controls
and PPE.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Trace quantities are destroyed by biological oxidation in
waste water treatment plants.

Code A641

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor using a closed-cycle incinerator with scrubbers in
accordance with local and national regulations.

A663 (incinerate, high temperature-long burn (*) with flue
gas scrubbing).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However, trace
quantities in aqueous washes can be treated in secondary
biological WWTP before discharge to municipal treatment
works.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: No other recommended methods of disposal.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Not applicable.
